SFJAZZ is a non-profit arts presenter and educator that promotes over 300 performances a year in a variety of venues. As Senior Designer for SFJAZZ, I was the in-house design contact for the SFJAZZ website redesign.

As the main source of traffic to the brand, the SFJAZZ website needed updating badly. The Drupal CMS site was confusing for users to navigate, difficult to update, and was not mobile-friendly. Our main goals were to redesign the site with a mobile-first focus, to improve e-commerce, and to increase traffic and engagement within the site.

Working with Adage Technologies, we held design breakouts with employee and board stakeholders to determine essential elements of the current website. We also brainstormed how we could enhance user experience and improve e-commerce.

Adage suggested we use Episerver CMS in conjunction with their ACE Platform for e-commerce and SmartSeat for ticketing. Adage provided us with design templates that I then revised to build customized webpages, venue and seat maps. By implementing an Agile framework, we were able to redesign the entire SFJAZZ website — including seat maps, e-commerce, and ticketing platform — all within a year.

The new award-winning, responsive-designed site is easier to navigate, update, and customize. The improvements have increased mobile users 20%, doubled pages viewed per visit, and has decreased page load times by 30%.
